What is a kalawali?

A kalawali is the family biodata Kashmiri Pandit families exchange when a match is being considered. Alongside the person's own details, it introduces both sides of the family: parents and grandparents, the bua and fufa ji on the parental side, and nana, nani, mama and mami ji on the maternal side, with each person's occupation.

It usually also records where the family comes from in the valley and where it lives today, often in Jammu. This maker starts with those traditional fields, and you can rename, reorder, add or remove any of them to fit your family.
